During
epilation the light is absorbed by the melanine, the dye
located in the hair and it is converted into heat. The heat
will be conducted into the fullicule by the hair itself,
where the temperature reaches 70 degree of Centigrade. Then
the cleavaging matrix cells located in the fullicules being
in growing phase will be perished and will not prepare hair
any more. If the adequate temperature will not be reached
effect can be detected namely the hairs will be miniaturized
and the resting phase of the hair will be prolonged and the
hair will grow out later than generally. During miniaturizing
an almost invisible "vellus" (namely down) evolves
instead of the dark and strong "terminal" hair.
Inrespect that the treatment can affect neither the fullicules
being in interim phase nor the fullicules being in resting
phase you should wait them to reach the growing phase and
then they can be treated successfully. The patient need several
treatments to kill all the hair producing cells in all fullicules.
By the help of 6 to 8 treatments made in a correct way can
result in a 80 to 85% permanent epilation, of course it depends
on several individual prameters.
Based on the above mentioned facts there are several considerations
which are eliminated and therefore the treatments give no
perfect result.
On one hand the presence of the hair itself is essential
for the treatment but it should be as small as possible and
on the other hand the hair should contain melanine. THus
the treatment is not applicable to grey, fair or red hair
because these type of hairs do not contain adequate quantity
and quality melanine. For the epilation of these types of
hairs there is no any method or machine using light in spite
of that there are a lot o advertisements about it.
The other important point of view is that the ideal result
can be achieved only by sufficient treatments made in determined
periods of time. It can vary on the different members.
Generally it can be declared that the ideal result can be
achived by 6 to 8 treatments made in four-week intervals.
The course of treatment
-
The patient arrives at the clinic after making an appointment
by phone;
-
Recording the patient's data and making a card for
her;
-
Giving information to the patient in a written form
about the action to be made;
-
Personal consultation;
-
Discovering the accidental contra-indications and
conditions which would not permit the treatment;
-
Detailed representation of the treatment;
-
Information about the possible side-effects arising
after the treatment ( temporary skin rubefaction,
blistering-off, impetigo, temporary hiperpigmentation,
temporary
hipopigmentation, etc.);
-
Domestic nursing after treatment;
-
Determination of the skin type (Fitzpatrick 1-6) and
documentation;
-
Making treatment plan, discussion about the frequency
of treatments;
-
Signing the declaration of approval;
-
Taking photo documentation;
-
Cleaning the skin area to be treated;
-
Covering the area to be treated by a cooled gel;
-
After the adjustment of the instrument parameters
the treatment is carried out;
-
Using ice jelly on the treated area if
necessary;
-
Skin sedative spray will be applied
on the treated area;
-
In summer time using suntan lotion
with 40 to 50 factor on the treated
area.
Before the treatment
- you
cannot use resin;
- you cannot use solarium and avoid sun-bathing;
- you should shave the area to be treated the day before,
taking care about the hair not to be longer than 1
mm;
- do not use browning or suntan lotions and even make-up;
- do not make peroxiding and deep peeling agents on
the area to be treated in two weeks before the
treatment.
Description of the treatment
During
the treatment in order to decrease the accidentally arisen
inconvenience a cool transparent gel (e.g. ultrasound gel)
will be applied on the skin to be treated after washing the
skin by clean water. This jelly can decrease the pain during
the treatment and provides an ideal and optimal connection
between the skin and the treating head (namely the light).
Before starting the treatment a low energy test shot will
be applied near the area to be treated in order to reach
the maximum efficiency and the minimum irritation. Then the
area covered by gel will be covered by light impulses near
each other with minimum overlapping. An inside temperature
increase in the fullicule and the death of the cleavaging
matrix cells of the hair will happen during the treatment.
A little rubefaction is normal around the fullicules after
the treatment. A sedative spray containing aloe vera will
be applied on the treated area then a suntan lotion with
40 to 50 factors will be used in summer time.
Recommendations after the
treatment
-
Do not expose your skin
to ultraviolet radiation (sunshine, solarium, bronzerium)
and do not use self-tanning lotions!
-
Do not epilate (by resin, epilating machines, forceps
or cream)!
-
Do not use peroxiding creams or odorous cosmetic on
the treated area in 24 to 48 hours after the treatment!
-
Do not pinch, scrape and rub the treated area!
-
Plase avoid the hard requisition of the treated area,
the very hot bath, dush, Turkish bath, sauna and
swimming in strongly chlorinated water!
-
Please avoid the use of peeling creams and scrub
in a week after the treatment and in the week
before the next treatment as well!
-
Keep the treated area clean and dry!
-
Take the contra-indications of the treatment
into account. If any change occurs (embarrassing
the treatment), please immediately inform
the person carrying out
the IPL treatment!
-
Use suntan lotions for two weeks in summertime
